Disabled Veterans Get Cost Of Living Increase

Effective January 1, 2013, over four million Veterans and survivors getting VA compensation benefits received a 1.7 percent cost of living adjustment (COLA) to their monthly payment. Check your benefits checks to be sure Uncle Sam has correctly calculated the increased amount due you. For a disabled veteran the monthly rates range from $129 for a 10 per cent rating to $2,816 for a 100 percent rating. These benefits are not subject to state or federal income tax. Those receiving veterans and survivors pension and DIC also get the 1.7 per cent increase. With the VA's eBenefits program you can verify your benefits online if you have an account established. The monthly amounts effective January 2013 are as follows:
